In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
If you want to swap the beach for the riverfront downtown this trip, Avora Hotel is a sharp pick — a 3-star on Bach Dang Street along the Han River that pulls a 9.2/10 on Trip.com across 120+ reviews, with rooms from about $31. It's a small place, roughly 33 rooms. Upgrading to a River View Room of around 26 sqm costs about 200,000 VND extra a night and is well worth it — the room opens onto the full sweep of the Han River, with Dragon Bridge directly across the water. Guests say that on a Saturday night you can open the window and watch the dragon breathe fire and spray water at 21:00 without elbowing through the crowd below. At this price, that view is hard to find.
Food and amenities
There's a restaurant and coffee shop serving breakfast à la carte, with a Vietnamese set that lets you pick mi quang or pho. Free parking, luggage storage and a concierge round it out — the front desk will book the Ba Na Hills and Golden Bridge tour from 800,000 VND per person. The catch worth knowing: there's no pool, so this isn't the stay for an afternoon swim. What you get instead is a downtown base that's genuinely walkable.
Location and getting there
The second draw is the rooftop terrace, which takes in the Han River, Dragon Bridge and Tien Son Bridge all at once — guests head up for a cold Larue beer at about 60,000 VND a glass. The position is excellent: 5 minutes on foot to Han Market, 7 minutes to the pink Da Nang Cathedral, and 12–15 minutes to Dragon Bridge and the Son Tra Night Market. The streets around the hotel are full of good mi quang and banh xeo spots. Best of all, Da Nang Airport is only about 3 km away — an 8-minute drive — which makes it ideal for a transit night or a late landing.
Things to know before booking
It isn't on the beach: My Khe is about 2.5 km across the bridge, so beach days mean a taxi each way. As a small hotel it carries fewer amenities than the bigger riverfront and beach places, and there's no pool. If a hotel swim is non-negotiable, look elsewhere; if you'd rather be walking the Old Town, this is the trade you want.
Our take
After two nights, our read is that Avora suits value travelers, couples and solo trippers who want to be downtown on the river and aren't here to swim at a resort — they're here to walk, hit the cafes and watch Dragon Bridge breathe fire up close. A 9.2 score on a budget in the low thousands of baht is rare in central Da Nang. If your trip needs a spot-on location at a fair price, Avora doesn't miss.
