In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Our Superior King ran a generous 32 square metres — proper space for a boutique at this rate. The Simmons mattress was soft without sinking, the shower pushed real high pressure, and the 55-inch TV and a kettle with six teas rounded out a room that felt considered rather than cookie-cutter. Downstairs, the small lobby leans Japanese-minimalist crossed with a Chinese touch, and there is free drip coffee and a snack laid out all day. Reviews keep noting the same thing we did: staff remembered our names by day two and greeted us like old friends, the kind of warmth big chains rarely manage.
Food and amenities
The breakfast is the headline. Served on the 2nd floor, the Asian-and-Western spread runs to fresh zongzi (sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaf), Sichuan rice noodles, fried-to-order eggs and homemade bread. Guests score it 9.4 — higher than a few 5-stars in this city, and we agree. What you do not get is a pool or a gym; this is a compact boutique, so amenities stop at the essentials done well. For most short-trip travellers that trade is easy to make.
Location and getting there
Bloom sits inside the Times Paradise Walk mall in Daping, Yuzhong. Step out of the lift and you hit Uniqlo, MUJI, a Starbucks Reserve and a dozen hotpot spots within 100 metres. We timed the walk to exit 3 of Shiyoulu station on metro Line 1 at 3 minutes 12 seconds. From there it is 2 stops to Jiefangbei (Linjiangmen), 4 stops to the Liziba train-through-a-building stop, and 7 stops to old Ciqikou. Fares open at about 30 cents, and over four days we never took a taxi.
Things to know before booking
There is no pool and no gym — fine for a city break, a dealbreaker if a morning swim is non-negotiable. Daping is dense and loud; street level outside the mall stays busy into the evening, so light sleepers should ask for a higher floor away from the road. And the cheapest rate sells first — rooms fill fast in high season, so book about two weeks ahead to lock the opening price.
Our take
Bloom Boutique is the answer to "a great location at a price that makes sense." We recommend it for couples on a short trip, business travellers and solo travellers who want to ride the metro and see the city. That 9.4 value score from real guests is not luck — the place sweats the details, from the breakfast to the door staff. Book two weeks out, take a room above the road, and you will pay roughly $50 a night for a stay that feels like a lot more.
