In-Depth Review
Cross Hotel Osaka sits in the top 20 of TripAdvisor's Osaka list, and 2026 reviews still describe it as an "amazing hotel with modern clean and comfortable rooms" — a sign the 2020 room renovation has held up well. The overall guest score is 8.6/10.
Rooms and decor
Standard rooms start at 20 sqm — compact, but smartly laid out, with under-bed storage, a built-in wardrobe and a desk with a USB port. The bathroom is a workable unit bath. The 28 sqm Deluxe adds a sofa and a vanity mirror that reviewers single out as genuinely useful. A gray-and-white palette with warm lighting makes the rooms feel a notch more premium than the rate suggests, and floors 10 and up get a decent city view once the lights come on at night.
Food and amenities
There are two restaurants and an in-house bar that stays open late — handy for a nightcap after dinner rather than heading back out. A gym rounds out the facilities. What you do not get is a pool or an onsen, so if soaking is part of your trip, look elsewhere; this is a base built for getting out into the city, not staying in.
Location and getting there
Cross Hotel sits in Shinsaibashi, the food heart of Osaka. It is a 3-minute walk to Shinsaibashi Station on the Midosuji Line, 5 minutes to Dotonbori — the city's most famous strip of food stalls and signs — and about 10 minutes to the shopping around Namba. From Umeda it is 2 train stops down, so it still counts as part of the convenient Umeda zone even though it is not on top of the station.
Things to know before booking
It is in Shinsaibashi, about 2 train stops from JR Osaka — fine if your plans run through Namba and Dotonbori, less ideal if you need to be at the main station. There is no pool and no onsen. And Standard rooms are tight at 20-24 sqm; if you want space to lounge, book the Deluxe instead. Parking exists but is limited, so reserve a spot when you book.
Our take
Cross Hotel Osaka is at its best for travelers who care most about exploring the city's food and shopping districts — step outside and Dotonbori is right there. It is better value than the 4-star hotels over in Umeda, and the rooms are newer and cleaner than the price would suggest. A solid pick for solo travelers and mid-budget couples alike.
