In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The Standard Twin runs 25 sqm at about $93 a night and leans Modern Japanese — wood, black and gold, with noto hiba wood floors. You get two 120x200cm twin beds, Sealy bedding and three pillows. The 5-sqm bathroom is the real draw: a separate soaking tub and shower rather than the all-in-one unit bath, plus a Toto Washlet, a double vanity, and POLA Wellnesse premium toiletries you won't find at a standard Daiwa Roynet. From the 8th floor, rooms look east over the Shinkansen tracks and the city.
Food and amenities
Breakfast is a buffet in the 2nd-floor lounge for about $15, served 06:30 to 10:00. It covers Jibuni, Kanazawa sashimi (tuna, salmon and amaebi), Japanese sweets dusted with gold leaf, locally grown Kaga vegetables, a fresh egg dish made to order, and Hokuriku Koshihikari rice from Niigata. It's 4-star quality, close to the Hyatt FIVE spread but about $30 cheaper. Afterward you can settle into the 2nd-floor co-working lounge — big tables, power outlets, 600 Mbps Wi-Fi and free coffee, open all day, which makes it genuinely usable for remote work.
Location and getting there
The hotel sits on the Nishiguchi (West Gate) side of JR Kanazawa Station — a 5-minute walk to the station and 3 minutes to the Hyatt Centric next door. This side is newer than the Tsuzumi Gate (East), with restaurants and Forus mall within walking distance. The catch: the West side is 2.5km from the central sights, so Kenroku-en, the castle and Higashi Chaya all need the Loop Bus (about $1.50, 15 minutes) or a taxi (around $10). If your plans center on Higashi Chaya and Kenroku-en, the East-side hotels like the Nikko and ANA are more convenient.
Things to know before booking
This is a business hotel, so there's no onsen and no pool. The West Gate location adds a Loop Bus or taxi hop to most sightseeing. And the Trip.com reviews run roughly 50:50 — some guests felt their room didn't quite match what they expected, so go in with business-hotel expectations rather than resort ones. The MIYABI tier also costs about 30% more than a standard Daiwa Roynet.
Our take
The Daiwa Roynet KANAZAWA-MIYABI is a smart call for business travelers and couples who want a premium business hotel by the station. The MIYABI tier gives you bigger rooms, a separate soaking tub, a Hokuriku breakfast and a co-working lounge, all at 8.6/10 and from about $91 — roughly $46 less than the Hyatt for comparable 4-star quality, trading a slightly longer station walk (5 minutes versus 3) for the savings. If you're here for meetings, or you value that separate tub and a station-first base, it earns its spot.

- The bathroom has a separate soaking tub and shower rather than the cramped unit bath most business hotels give you, plus POLA Wellnesse premium toiletries.

- There is no onsen and no pool — this is a business hotel, not a resort.
