In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The whole point of Daiwa Roynet is rooms that run bigger than the business norm. There are 244 rooms starting at 18 sqm, where the typical Japanese business hotel sits at 13–15 sqm. That gap sounds small, but in a tight room those 3–5 extra square metres mean somewhere to open a suitcase and actually work. The look is modern, in easy brown and white. Every room has a pants press (press your trousers without setting up an ironing board), an air purifier, a Nespresso coffee maker, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi, and the standard Japanese bathroom comes with a bidet.
Food and amenities
The buffet breakfast is what reviews single out — it carries the full set of local Nagoya dishes: Miso Katsu (pork cutlet in miso sauce), Hitsumabushi (grilled eel over rice, eaten three ways) and Tebasaki (Nagoya-style fried chicken wings), plus the usual Japanese spread. It runs about ¥1,400 ($10), which is worth it if you want to taste the local flavors in one place. There's no gym or spa on site, so this is a stay built around the room and the location rather than facilities.
Location and getting there
The hotel opened in 2018 on the Taikodori (西口) side of Nagoya Station, just a 3-minute walk from the shinkansen exit. From the Taikodori 西口 exit, turn right and follow Taikodori St past a Family Mart and the hotel sits right on the main road. The Taikodori (west) side is quieter than the Sakuradori (east) side, with fewer malls and restaurants — a fair trade for the short walk if you're catching an early train.
Things to know before booking
Breakfast is not included — the buffet costs about ¥1,400 ($10) on top of the room. The west side is quieter, so don't expect Sakuradori's shopping at your doorstep. And there's no gym or spa, which matters if you like to train on the road. If you want a touch more space, the 22 sqm Comfort Double runs only about ¥800 ($5) more a night. Note there's a sister branch, Daiwa Roynet Shinkansenguchi, also on the west side — older (opened 2008) and about a minute closer to the shinkansen.
Our take
Daiwa Roynet Hotel Nagoya Taiko-dori Side fits business travelers, couples and small families who want a room bigger than the Japanese standard on a budget around $70–100 — especially anyone catching an early shinkansen. Rates start around $74 and real guests give it 9.0/10 on Trip.com. It's roomier and more comfortable than the usual cramped Japanese business hotel, which is exactly why we'd book it.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- Part of the Daiwa Roynet chain, run by the Daiwa House Group, one of Japan's construction giants — the brand carries a dependable, well-kept feel.

- Rooms start at 18 sqm, clearly bigger than the usual 13–15 sqm Japanese business room — that extra space means you can actually open a suitcase and work.
- Every room comes with a pants press, an air purifier and a coffee maker, so it punches above its price on the small comforts.
- The buffet breakfast piles on local Nagoya dishes — Miso Katsu and Hitsumabushi — so you can taste the city in one sitting.
- Breakfast is not included; the buffet runs about ¥1,400 ($10) on top of the room rate.
- The Taikodori (west, 西口) side is quieter than the Sakuradori (east) side, with fewer malls and restaurants around.
- There is no gym or spa on site, so fitness-minded guests will need to look elsewhere.
