In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
What made our team single this one out is that it's a pure apart-hotel — every unit is a 1-to-3-bedroom suite. Each comes with a spacious living room and a full kitchen: fridge, stove, microwave and a proper set of cooking gear, plus a private balcony looking out over the tropical garden or the bay. The building itself is clean contemporary white, sitting comfortably in the gardens around it. Plenty of guests book the 2-bedroom suite for a family and come away saying it's far better value than reserving two separate hotel rooms — which cost more and come with no kitchen at all.
Food and amenities
There's an oval outdoor pool in a tropical garden, ringed by palms and sun loungers, plus a communal BBQ area our team used to grill steaks with friends one evening. Wi-Fi is free throughout, and there's free private underground parking — no small thing in a hot city where a spot is hard to come by. One thing to plan around: it's an apart-hotel, so there's no restaurant or bar on site. You either cook in your suite or walk to the wharf.
Location and getting there
Darwin Waterfront Luxury Suites sits on Anchorage Court, in the heart of the Darwin Waterfront Precinct by Stokes Hill Wharf. We rolled our bags into the lobby and looked straight out at yachts, palms and the blue water of Darwin Harbour — a setting that feels like a coastal resort rather than mid-city. On foot it's about 3 minutes to Wave Lagoon (the seaside man-made swimming park), 5 minutes to the seafood shacks at Stokes Hill Wharf, 8 minutes to the Darwin Convention Centre, and roughly 12 minutes up to the CBD across the Sky Bridge. The CBD and Smith Street Mall are about 1 km away.
Things to know before booking
It's a fair walk to Mitchell Street's bar-and-nightlife district — around 800 m — which keeps things quiet at night but means the action isn't on your doorstep. With no restaurant or bar in the building, you'll lean on your kitchen or the wharf for meals. And starting rates run higher than the city's downtown hotels, so the math works best when you're staying several nights rather than one.
Our take
Darwin Waterfront Luxury Suites is the best fit for families and groups who want a waterfront apartment with a full kitchen in a safe, quiet pocket of the city. If your Darwin trip means several nights and you'd like to cook for yourselves some of the time, this is an opening pick our team recommends with confidence — comfortable, well-placed and good value. Real guests back it up with a 9.0 on Trip.com, the highest score on this list.
