In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
If your kid refuses to take off the Spider-Man suit, or can name the full Avengers roster, Disney's Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is the stay that gets a squeal the moment you reach the lobby. It is a 4-star hotel that Disney rebuilt from the former Hotel New York (its old Art Deco New York theme) into the only full-building Marvel-themed hotel in Europe, opened in 2021. What makes it special is that it does not just stick hero posters on the wall — it is designed as a genuine Marvel art gallery, with more than 350 pieces: paintings, sketches and sculptures of Avengers, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Black Panther lined along the lobby and every floor. The whole building runs on 1930s New York Art Deco — geometric lines, brass, marble — the kind of look that photographs well from every angle and wins over the grown-ups too. Every room carries Marvel artwork, and reviewers keep saying this is the Disney hotel that still impresses you once you are an adult. Guest reviews land it around 8.7/10.
Food and amenities
The highlight kids wait for is the Super Hero Station, a zone built like a command base with a replica Quinjet (the Avengers' aircraft) to inspect and timed rounds where Spider-Man and Captain (Marvel and America) come out to greet guests and pose up close — real fans get to shake hands, strike a hero pose and grab the photo. There is also the Marvel Design Studio, a free superhero cartoon-drawing activity for kids in the afternoon, which is an excellent indoor option when the weather will not cooperate. For swimming, there are two pools — one indoor and one outdoor by Lake Disney; the heated indoor pool keeps things going in any weather, which matters a lot in Europe.
Location and getting there
The hotel sits on the edge of Lake Disney, and you walk the lakeside path through Disney Village (restaurants, shops, cinema) into the park in about 10–12 minutes — or take the cross-lake ferry or the free shuttle. The sunset over the lake in the evening is genuinely good. Hotel guests get Extra Magic Time to enter the park before general opening, like every hotel in the resort. The on-site RER A / TGV station, Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy, is in front of the park and puts central Paris around 40 minutes away, with Paris CDG airport about 35–40 minutes out.
Things to know before booking
Two things to weigh. First, the theme is firmly Marvel superheroes — if your kids are strictly princess or Toy Story fans, they may not connect with it the way an Avengers household will. Second, this is a 4-star price that is not light: it runs second only to Disneyland Hotel and costs more than Newport Bay or Sequoia at a similar level. It is also a 10–12 minute walk into the park rather than right at the gate like the flagship, and the in-hotel character dining is less of a draw than at Disneyland Hotel.
Our take
After reading through the real guest reviews, Art of Marvel fits best with families who have a Marvel or Avengers fan in the house — kid or parent — who want a Disney hotel with grown-up design appeal and the chance to meet Spider-Man in person. If you want a princess theme instead, look at Disneyland Hotel above; if you want a lighter price at a similar lakeside 4-star level, go on to Newport Bay next.
