In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Our Deluxe King ran about 42 square metres on floor 28, facing straight across the Yangtze at Chaotianmen Bridge, whose orange lights smear across the water like a painting after dark. The King bed is large and soft, with four pillow firmnesses to choose from. The marble bathroom splits a soaking tub from a separate rain shower and stocks fragrant Crabtree & Evelyn amenities. We spent the first night in the tub watching the city lights ripple on the river, and we'd call this the most striking room view in Chongqing.
Food and amenities
The indoor pool on level 5 stretches about 20 metres, kept at a comfortable temperature and open 6am to 10pm. The fitness room runs 24 hours with a full TechnoGym setup, and The Spa offers Sichuan massage from around $80. We loved the Tea Garden breakfast buffet most — fresh dim sum, hot-pot rice noodles, a made-to-order omelette station, fresh-baked bread and seasonal fruit. The guest score of 9.4 tracks the quality at every meal.
Location and getting there
The hotel sits in the commercial-and-cultural pocket of Nan'an District, on the south bank of the Yangtze. That is the trade-off: you swap a walkable downtown for quiet and a better view, then ride across the river to reach Jiefangbei, Hongya Cave and the Liziba train-through-building station. The ride is short, and the concierge will sort a Yangtze cruise or a hot-pot table without the queue.
Things to know before booking
Rates start near $90 a night and climb to about $185 for the high-floor river suites, so the postcard view carries a clear premium. The best floor-28 river rooms sell out first, so book a couple of weeks ahead if a specific view matters. And because it is on the south bank, factor in the cross-river hop every time you head into the centre — fine for a relaxed trip, less so if you want to step straight onto the pedestrian street.
Our take
After three nights we'd open any Chongqing trip here. It suits honeymooning couples, families who want room to spread out, and business travellers chasing quiet without losing easy access to the city. No other hotel in town puts you this close to the Chaotianmen Bridge view. Pay the premium for a high-floor river room, and let the morning light off the Yangtze do the waking up.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- A genuine five-star Hilton under the DoubleTree brand, where the warm chocolate-chip cookie at check-in is just the start — guests say every touchpoint actually holds the Hilton standard rather than coasting on the logo.
- The 42-square-metre Deluxe King on floor 28 looks straight at the Yangtze and Chaotianmen Bridge, with a marble bathroom that splits the tub from a rain shower and Crabtree & Evelyn amenities. It is the most striking room view we found in Chongqing.
- Level 5 holds a 20-metre indoor pool kept at a comfortable temperature, open 6am to 10pm, backed by a 24-hour fitness room with a full TechnoGym setup and The Spa, where Sichuan massage starts around $80.
- The Tea Garden breakfast buffet runs fresh dim sum, hot-pot rice noodles, a made-to-order omelette station, fresh bakery and seasonal fruit — guests score it 9.4, which is the food carrying its weight every morning.
- English-speaking staff and a concierge that handles everything from a Yangtze cruise booking to a hot-pot table without the queue, in a quiet south-bank spot that still gets you into the city fast.
- It sits on the Nan'an side, so the Jiefangbei core, Hongya Cave and Liziba train-through-building station are all a cross-river ride away rather than a short walk.
- Rates start near $90 and climb to roughly $185 for the high-floor river suites — the river view is real, but you pay a clear premium for the high floors that get it.

Insider Tips
- Ask for a high floor on the Yangtze side facing Chaotianmen Bridge — the floor-28 night view across the water is the whole reason to stay here.
- The cross-river ride into Jiefangbei and Hongya Cave is quick, so base here for quiet and day-trip into the buzz rather than the other way around.
- Take the warm DoubleTree cookie at check-in — it is a brand ritual, and the front desk hands one to every arriving guest.
