In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The Bay View room runs NT$5,700 (about $180 a night) and measures roughly 33 sqm, done in a modern wood-and-grey palette. The king bed is soft and comfortable to the usual Marriott standard, and there is a work desk and a sofa. The bathroom is spotless with a strong shower and a full set of branded toiletries. Our room faced Magong Bay, looking out over the boats and the open sea; soundproofing was very good and the air-con cooled the room fast, so we slept well every night.
Food and amenities
The highlight here is the zero-edge pool, whose rim seems to merge straight into Magong Bay — we swam early before the sun got harsh, when the water was clear and the view was good enough to keep photographing. There is a gym right by the pool. Breakfast is a buffet in the main restaurant, with Taiwanese dishes, a Western spread, local seafood, and a fresh-coffee corner; the quality is consistent in that reliable chain way, tasty and varied enough.
Location and getting there
The hotel sits on the bay along Xindian Rd, a 4-to-6-minute walk from Magong harbour and the island-hopping boats, and about 10 minutes further on foot to Central Old Street and Tianhou Temple. The big convenience is the free shuttle to Penghu Airport (MZG), so arrival and departure are sorted with no fuss. For getting around the rest of the island, rent a car or a scooter — there is parking at the hotel.
Things to know before booking
This is the most expensive hotel in this guide, from $180 a night, so it suits people who value the brand and the view over a low rate. Central Old Street is about a 10-minute walk, meaning you are not right on the shopping strip. During the fireworks festival and high season, rates climb a lot and rooms go fast, so book ahead.
Our take
Four Points by Sheraton Penghu is for couples and travelers who put a premium on an international-brand standard and a genuine sea view, scoring 8.8/10 from real guests. The zero-edge pool and the steady, predictable service are the main draws. If you want the reassurance of a major chain on a small island, this is the one that delivers it best.
