Furama Resort Danang
by the TopOfHotel team
Furama is Da Nang's first 5-star resort, open since 1997, with a central location close to town and the main sights — the draw is its private Bac My An beach and Indochina architecture, at a starting price well below the Hyatt and Sheraton chains and far closer to town than the InterContinental.

In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Furama Resort Danang opened in 1997 as Da Nang's first 5-star resort, back when Non Nuoc beach had nothing at all. It sits on Bac My An beach, just south of where it joins My Khe, and has had major renovations in 2014 and 2020. There are 198 rooms and villas, from the 36 sqm Superior Garden Room up to the 240 sqm Ocean Lagoon Villa with its own pool opening onto the beach. The look is Vietnamese Indochina — warm wood-brown, cream and colonial red, with real timber furniture, Hue silk, and hand-tufted king beds. You get Wi-Fi (weaker in some blocks), a 43-inch Smart TV, a Nespresso machine, a minibar and THANN toiletries. Real guest reviews on Trip.com (9.0/10), Agoda (8.7) and Booking (8.9) mostly praise the clean private beach, the big breakfast and the location near town, with the only knocks being a few aging blocks and the patchy Wi-Fi.
Food and amenities
The heart of Furama is Café Indochine, the resort's largest all-day venue — the breakfast buffet (VND 600,000) lays out pho, croissants, dim sum, fruit, omelets and fresh baguette, and it's one of the most varied in Da Nang, with a seafood dinner buffet every Friday. Don Cipriani handles fresh-made Italian pasta, Hai Van Lounge does cocktails and sunset drinks, and Ocean Terrace grills BBQ right by the sand. There are 3 pools — a 4,000 sqm Lagoon Pool, an Ocean Pool and a 25m Lap Pool. Furama Spa has 8 treatment rooms using THANN and Vietnamese herbs, with a 60-minute body massage at VND 1.2 million. The Kids Club is free for ages 4-12 with Vietnamese craft activities, and watersports run to kayaks, paddle boards and jet skis. There are also 2 tennis courts and a Technogym gym with sauna. The free shuttle runs into town and to Hoi An 3 times a day. Overall it scores 8.9/10.
Location and getting there
Furama sits on Bac My An beach, just south of My Khe. The private Bac My An beach runs 500 metres inside the resort, and the public My Khe beach is a 10-minute walk. Marble Mountain is a 10-minute drive, Dragon Bridge and the Han River 12 minutes, Lady Buddha (Linh Ung Pagoda) and Son Tra 25 minutes, Hoi An Ancient Town 30 minutes, and Ba Na Hills 55 minutes. Da Nang airport (DAD) is 7 km away, a 15-minute drive. Furama runs a free shuttle into town 3 times daily (09:00, 14:00, 18:00) with a 21:00 return, plus 2 Hoi An runs (09:30 and 14:00) — book those a day ahead.
Things to know before booking
First, some buildings and rooms are aging — the Superior Garden rooms are in the original 1997 block with only light updates and worn bathrooms, so ask for a Premier Garden or Ocean Villa renovated in 2020 or later. Second, Wi-Fi drops out in some blocks, especially the villas at the far end of the garden; if you need to work, request a Premier Garden room in the main building where the signal is better. Third, it gets crowded over Tet and Christmas-New Year — all 198 rooms fill up and the Lagoon Pool is packed, so come May to August, when prices fall about 25% and there are fewer people. Fourth, Bac My An gets rough surf from October to December in the storm season — keep small children in the safer Lagoon Pool.
Our take
Furama Resort Danang is the most well-rounded choice for families and couples who want classic 5-star at a reasonable price, close to town and the main sights in Da Nang. You get Da Nang's longest-running resort, Indochina-meets-colonial architecture, a private Bac My An beach, 3 pools, the big Café Indochine breakfast and a central location near Dragon Bridge and Marble Mountain, from about $137 a night. If the trip in your head is a classic 5-star family stay where you bounce between the city, Hoi An and Marble Mountain, this is the most fitting answer. If you'd rather have contemporary design and an infinity pool, the Pullman or Sheraton suit you better. Overall we give it 8.9/10 — best for classic 5-star families and heritage-minded couples.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- The most central location in Da Nang's 5-star group — it's an easy run to Dragon Bridge, Ba Na Hills or Hoi An, so you can swap between the city and the sights every day.
- The Café Indochine breakfast buffet is one of the most varied in Da Nang, with fresh pho, croissants, dim sum, fruit, omelets and baguettes baked that morning.
- Shady, green gardens give it a real Indochina-meets-colonial heritage feel that the newer Non Nuoc resorts simply don't have, since this place has been open since 1997.
- The private Bac My An beach is clean, and the gentler water here suits kids who want to splash around.
- Starts around $137 a night, well below the Hyatt and Sheraton, while still sitting on its own private beach 10 minutes from town.
- Some buildings and rooms are starting to age — the Superior Garden rooms sit in the original 1997 block with only light renovation, so the bathrooms in particular are getting worn. Ask for a Premier Garden or an Ocean Villa, renovated in 2020 or later, and you'll get a much fresher room.
- Wi-Fi drops out in some blocks, especially the villas at the far end of the garden. If you need to work remotely, request a Premier Garden room in the main building, where the signal is stronger.
- It gets very busy over Tet and the Christmas-New Year period — all 198 rooms fill up and the Lagoon Pool gets packed. Come May to August instead, when prices fall about 25% and the crowds thin out.

Insider Tips
- Ask for an Ocean Lagoon Villa — the pool runs right off your terrace and opens onto the beach, and it's better value than a plain Garden Room.
- Café Indochine breakfast opens at 06:00 — get there early, before the crowd, for the freshest pho.
- Take the free shuttle 20 minutes into town and walk Bach Dang riverside street.
