In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Hilton Hiroshima is a 22-story white-and-gold tower standing over the Fujimicho district, and since it opened in July 2023 everything still feels new. The three-story lobby has a glass ceiling that floods the space with daylight, with a giant Hiroshima origami crane art piece at its center as a nod to peace. The Executive King Deluxe runs 32 sqm; from floor 20 on the north side you get the Atomic Bomb Dome framed clearly in the window, with Mt. Misen in the distance. The Hilton Serenity bed is 200 by 200 cm — soft but firm enough — with Frette linens, a big marble bathroom with a separate jacuzzi tub and a rain shower, a Toto washlet, a Lavazza coffee maker, and matcha green tea.
Food and amenities
The heart of the hotel is the 20-meter indoor pool on floor 4 — blue tiling, underwater lighting, and a sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi alongside, open 06:00 to 22:00 and free for guests. The water sits at a steady 28°C and the room stays quiet even in the rain. This is the only hotel in Hiroshima that puts a pool, sauna, and spa together. The in-house eforea Spa runs a 60-minute aromatherapy massage for about $120, done in near silence. Executive Floor guests reach the Executive Lounge on floor 22 for free — 360-degree views over the whole city, a continental breakfast, and a cocktail hour from 17:30 to 19:30 with free local sake.
Location and getting there
Hilton sits in Fujimicho, quieter than downtown but close to everything. You can walk to Peace Memorial Park across the Heiwa Ohashi bridge in 15 minutes (1.2 km), or take the tram from the door in about 5 minutes for around $1.50. Go early, before the crowds, to photograph the Atomic Bomb Dome with no one in the frame. The Hondori Shopping Arcade is a 10-minute walk, where you can eat okonomiyaki at Hassei (about $8) layered Hiroshima-style with noodles under Otafuku sauce. From JR Hiroshima Station, ride the Hiroden tram no. 2 about 10 minutes to the Chuden-mae stop, then walk 50 meters.
Things to know before booking
The catch is the station. Hilton is 2 km from JR Hiroshima Station, so arriving by Shinkansen means a 10-minute tram ride rather than a quick walk. Rates run about 12% above the Sheraton, starting around $166 and climbing to roughly $629 for the top suites. And Fujimicho is a calmer pocket than the downtown core, so there is less buzz right outside the door after dark. None of it is a dealbreaker if you came for the new rooms and the walk to the park, but factor in the transfer from the station.
Our take
Hilton Hiroshima is the best base in the Peace Park area for couples and travelers who want some polish — a 2023 Hilton with a 360-degree Executive Lounge, a 20-meter indoor pool, and a full spa, all of it brand new. The 9.0/10 from 350+ reviews backs that up. At $166 and up it earns its keep for anyone who wants to walk to Peace Memorial Park every morning and have the full Hilton service stack waiting back at the hotel. Best for couples and Hilton elites.
