In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The Ocean View room runs NT$5,800 (about $185 a night). It's done in a modern style — white and light wood, clean lines, and it looks more expensive than it is. The bed is soft but firm enough, there's a big TV, and a little seating nook by the window. The part people love is the wide sea view: open the curtains and Dawan Beach fills the frame. The bathroom is new, the hot water runs strong, and the toiletries are all there. Because the hotel only just opened, everything is still in new condition, and the room is quiet and easy to sleep in.
Food and amenities
The star here is the 360-degree sky pool — swim and you see the sea on every side. Reviews say go up around sunset, when the orange light over the water is hard to beat and every angle shoots well. Breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant, with a decent spread for a property this size and food that does the job. There's a fitness room too. For dinner, reviews point you to the night market just outside, which is very close — there's far more to eat and it works out cheaper.
Location and getting there
Hotel dua sits right on Dawan Beach — a few steps and you're on the sand — and it's about a 4-minute walk to the Kenting Main Street night market. That mix is hard to beat: you get the beach and the market without driving. Coming from Kaohsiung, the Kenting Express bus drops you near the market, then it's a short walk in, which makes it easy if you don't have a car. If you want to get out to Eluanbi or Hengchun, though, a car or a rented scooter is the easier way to go.
Things to know before booking
It only just opened, so some of the service and the staff are still finding their feet — friendly and keen, but new. The sky pool is the most popular spot in the building, so at peak times it gets busy and you wait your turn for photos. And because this is the stay everyone wants right now, opening-period and holiday rates climb fast, so book several weeks ahead if your dates fall on a holiday.
Our take
Hotel dua Kenting is the most modern and the most exciting place to stay in Kenting right now, with a 9.0/10 score to match. The 360-degree sky pool is an experience you won't find anywhere else in Taiwan. If you're a couple who shoots everything, or you just want a new design hotel on the beach and near the market, this is the answer.
