In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The Ocean View Twin runs about $160 a night and measures roughly 40 sqm — genuinely roomy, with a soft bed and a sofa tucked by the window. The selling point is the view: the balcony looks straight out over the Pacific, and pulling the curtains on a wall of blue water first thing in the morning is the whole point of staying here. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked, and the extra floor space makes it an easy room to settle into for a few nights with kids.
Food and amenities
The breakfast buffet spans a decent range of Taiwanese and Western dishes, with a clearly separated kids' food corner so younger eaters have their own spread; the food is solid and the seating is generous. What families really come for, though, is the pair of pools — one indoor, one outdoor — so swimming works in any weather, plus the kids' club and its daily activity program that buys parents some downtime. A cable car connects the resort straight to the theme park next door, and the ride over is one of the bits the kids end up talking about.
Location and getting there
The hotel is in the Yanliao district south of the city, right beside Farglory Ocean Park, about 10 km from downtown Hualien and roughly a 25-minute drive from the train station. If your trip is built around the park and the sea, the location is close to perfect. If you'd rather be in town for the night markets or run up to Taroko Gorge often, budget a fair bit of driving time each way — there's no quick transit link out here.
Things to know before booking
The trade-off for that cliffside setting is distance: at 10 km out, it's inconvenient for city sightseeing, and there are few restaurants nearby — expect to eat most meals at the resort. It also gets pricier and busier during school breaks and public holidays, so if you're chasing value or quiet, aim for off-peak dates and book the ocean side early.
Our take
By guest reviews this lands as one of the top family resorts in Hualien, scoring 8.8/10 — a pretty ocean view, the theme park literally next door, two pools and a full kids' club that keeps young children busy from morning on. If you're traveling with kids and the plan centers on Ocean Park, past guests recommend it first for that kind of trip, and after a couple of days of rides, pools and balcony sea views, it's easy to see why.
