In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The entrance sits off the Hua Hin-Pranburi road, on the south side of town near Khao Takiab. Hyatt Regency is a 5-star resort laid out as low-rise buildings around wide gardens, with pools that link together like a flowing stream. Rooms and villas open onto a terrace facing either the garden or the sea, and a wooden walkway leads down to a long stretch of white-sand beach that's quieter than the beaches in town. From there it's about 10 minutes on foot to Khao Takiab headland.
Food and amenities
The headline — and the reason families pick this place — is the large pool fitted with a 7-meter water slide, which is hard to find at other Hua Hin resorts. Kids can play from afternoon into the evening without getting bored, while the grown-ups watch from a daybed and order from the pool bar. Some villas come with a small private pool on the terrace, good for a soak at sunset. There's also Camp Hyatt, a kids club with staff running baking, drawing and basic-Thai sessions. For adults, the Barai Spa gets called the prettiest spa in Hua Hin by reviewers, built to catch natural light like a small temple, alongside a 24-hour gym, tennis courts and the beachfront restaurant McFarland House, which does Western and Thai food well.
Location and getting there
The resort sits on the south side of Hua Hin near Khao Takiab, set back from the busier part of town. The beach out front is long and quiet, and you can walk it all the way to the Khao Takiab headland in about 10 minutes. The trade-off is distance from the center — getting to the Hua Hin night market means a car or taxi rather than a stroll.
Things to know before booking
The pool villas start at a fairly high price, noticeably above the standard rooms, so factor that in if a private pool is on your list. Because it's south of downtown, you'll need a car or taxi to reach the night market and the main shopping — it isn't a place you walk into town from. And it fills up during school breaks and long weekends, so book well ahead if you're traveling in those windows.
Our take
Hyatt Regency Hua Hin works best for families with kids, from toddlers to teens, and for anyone who wants a beachfront resort where the whole group can stay happy without leaving the grounds — kids in the slide pool, grown-ups at the spa. Real guest scores land around 9.2-9.3, with the family-activities category up at 9.5.
