In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
What sets Hyatt Regency Naha apart from other 4-star chains is a design that pulls from Ryukyu culture — the old kingdom that ruled Okinawa from 1429 to 1879 — and blends it with something contemporary. The high, open lobby works in sand and wood tones, with bright floral bingata fabric, Tsuboya pottery, and coral stone set into the corners. All 294 rooms run in earth-brown tones with soft beds, free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, a work desk, and a marble bathroom with a separate tub and shower. We stayed in a Deluxe on the 12th floor on the city-view side and could see Shuri Castle and the sea at sunset.
Food and amenities
The highlight for us is the outdoor pool on the 3rd floor — genuinely hard to find at a hotel in central Naha — with a lounge deck and a drinks bar. Swim, sip a morning lemonade, then head down to breakfast. The spa below runs Ryukyu-style treatments using local herbal oils and massage technique, and the fitness room is open 24 hours and fully kitted out. Food comes from two restaurants: Sakurazaka serves Japanese and Okinawan kaiseki, while Naha Cafe lays out an international breakfast buffet alongside local plates like goya champuru, taco rice, soki-jiru (Okinawan pork-bone soup), and cold fresh Okinawa milk.
Location and getting there
The hotel sits in the centre of town, about a 5-minute walk downhill to Kokusai-dori and the Tsuboya pottery district, where a roughly 300-year craft tradition is still kept alive. Makishi public market, selling tuna and souvenirs, is just 7 minutes away, and Makishi monorail station is 10 minutes on foot. From there the Yui Rail line runs to Shuri Castle — a UNESCO-listed site and former centre of the Ryukyu Kingdom — on the far side of the city, and on to Naha Airport, about 6km away.
Things to know before booking
This is the priciest hotel on our list, starting around $137 a night, so it is best suited to travelers already budgeting for an upper-tier stay. The hotel also sits on a hill above Kokusai-dori, which means the walk back from the shopping street is a slight uphill climb. And the outdoor pool opens seasonally rather than year-round — if a swim is part of the plan, confirm the dates before you book.
Our take
Hyatt Regency Naha, Okinawa is the clearest answer for couples and families who want an international 4-star chain in the heart of the city, with a pool and a spa to unwind in after a full day out. We'd recommend it without hesitation — if the budget allows, it is the choice that makes an Okinawa trip feel like a real reward to yourself.

Insider Tips
- Ask for a high floor on the city-view side — on a clear day you can see Shuri Castle and the sea, including at sunset.
- Use the 3rd-floor pool before 10:00 — it is quieter and the sun is not yet at full strength.
- Walk down the hill to Tsuboya early in the morning — the pottery shops are calmer than in the afternoon.
