Location and getting there

The hotel sits on the ground floor of Building 3, Hetianju Modern City on Guanli Road in Yongding District, about 700m from Zhangjiajie train station — a 9-10 minute walk, or a 3-minute Didi for around $1. Lotus Airport is roughly 5km, about 12 minutes by car. The Tianmen Mountain cable car is a short 5-6 minute ride, with a fare of around $2; for Zhangjiajie Forest Park (Wulingyuan, the Avatar scenery) you catch a bus from the station next door, about 40 minutes. It's a strong base if you arrived by high-speed rail and plan to push on to Fenghuang or another Hunan town.

Things to know before booking

It is not right beside the Tianmen cable car, so factor in that short 5-6 minute drive. Facilities sit at mid-range rather than the luxe level of a 5-star, so come expecting comfortable, not plush. And rooms fill up fast in high season — book ahead if your dates are locked in.
