In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Inthira Vang Vieng runs a pretty Indochine-meets-Lao building, and the rooms follow through: Lao woven textiles, wood furniture, comfortable beds and nicely tiled bathrooms. They're a sensible size, the feel is warm rather than corporate, and Wi-Fi is free. The higher rooms facing the inner garden are the ones to ask for — quieter, and the setting is better. One guest review summed it up as feeling like a real boutique: pretty and quiet.
Food and amenities
The outdoor garden pool is the standout — calm, set in the garden, and good for cooling off through the afternoon. The free breakfast buffet is solid, with Lao, French and international plates to pick from, and the main restaurant serves Lao food in the same boutique setting. Staff speak good English and will arrange Blue Lagoon tours, hot-air balloon rides, and China–Laos Railway tickets.
Location and getting there
You're in the center of Vang Vieng, a few minutes' walk from the Night Market and within walking distance of every restaurant and bar in town. The Nam Song river is about a 5-minute walk, close enough to head out for sunset without paying riverside-hotel prices. Vang Vieng train station is around 6 km away by tuk-tuk, and the Blue Lagoon and Tham Phu Kham cave are about 7 km out.
Things to know before booking
It's not on the river, so the in-room mountain views don't match Riverside Boutique — you walk over to the Nam Song for those. Town noise at night reaches some rooms, so a light sleeper should request a higher floor facing the garden. The trade-off is the price: Inthira runs roughly $37 a night cheaper than Riverside.
Our take
If you'd rather walk to dinner than wake up over the water, this is the smart pick in Vang Vieng. You get a central boutique with a pool and a good free breakfast for less than the riverside hotels, with an 8.7/10 guest score to back it up — and the river is only a short walk when you want it.
