Sennaya Ploshchad station is a 300 m walk, and it's an interchange for three metro lines. That puts the main stretch of Nevsky one stop away and the Hermitage two, so getting to any part of the city is easy. The pretty Griboedov Canal is close by and makes for a good evening walk. Sennaya has a "real St Petersburg" feel that most visitors never see — a completely different experience from staying in the middle of Nevsky.

Things to know before booking

This is a value play, so set expectations accordingly. You're one metro stop farther from central Nevsky than the other picks, so you'll hop on the metro a stop to reach the main sights. Amenities are basic — there's no pool, spa or restaurant on site. And the decor is plain rather than characterful. None of that is a problem if you came for value and a real neighborhood; it's worth knowing if you wanted resort extras.
