In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The thing that catches your eye first at Lotte Hotel Jeju is the grand, castle-shaped building — one of the landmarks of Jungmun Beach. It stands in the Jungmun resort area, right beside The Shilla Jeju. The lobby is spacious, as you would expect from a resort run by the Lotte group, one of South Korea's big conglomerates, and staff service gets a lot of praise in reviews. Rooms are roomy, and every one comes with air-con, a minibar and a private bathroom. Sea-view and garden-view rooms are the popular picks, and the castle styling carries through the property.
Food and amenities
What makes us recommend this place for families is the large pool and the dedicated kids' water park — children can play here all day. At night there is a fountain show set to lights and music out in the resort garden that the whole family can come out and watch together, while adult guests have an in-house casino. On the food side, there are several restaurants and bars, plus room service, a gym and a spa, so you can eat dinner and spend the whole evening without ever leaving the resort grounds.
Location and getting there
The resort sits in the heart of the Jungmun resort area in Seogwipo, right next to The Shilla Jeju, which you can walk over to. It is a short walk to Jungmun Beach too, with Cheonjeyeon Waterfall and a botanical garden nearby — so the main attractions of southern Jeju are close at hand. From Jeju International Airport it is about 38 km, roughly 50 minutes by car.
Things to know before booking
Starting rates are on the high side — from about $194 a night and climbing toward $486 in peak periods. The airport is about 50 minutes away by car, so plan your arrival around that rather than expecting a quick transfer. Because this is a large resort, the pool and lobby can get busy at peak times. And while the castle theme is the signature here, some guests find it a little dated.
Our take
Lotte Hotel Jeju is at its best for families and couples who want a beachfront resort with everything on site. If you are traveling as a family and you value the water park, the fountain show and that Jungmun Beach location, we recommend it without hesitation — and couples after a beachfront stay with plenty laid on will be just as happy. Real guests back that up with a 9.5 from 434 reviews.
