In-Depth Review

Rooms and decor

Mercure Dalat Resort opened in 2017 on Hoang Van Thu street, making it the newest Accor property in Da Lat until the planned Sofitel arrives around 2027. The site pairs a renovated 1930s French school with a fresh new wing, for 131 air-conditioned rooms ranging from a 28 sqm Standard up to a 55 sqm Privilege Suite. The look is Indochine crossed with contemporary modern — wood browns, cream and mint-green, real wood furniture and Vietnamese silk, on Sealy beds. Every room gets fast Wi-Fi, a 43-inch smart TV, minibar, safe, coffee and tea kit, and a bathroom with a rain shower stocked with Aigner toiletries. Guest scores back up the "new and roomy" pitch: 8.9 on Trip.com, 8.7 on Agoda, 8.9 on Booking, with no negative review in 11 straight months.

Food and amenities

The real draw is the Accor standard plus Le Club loyalty. The all-day Indochine Restaurant runs a buffet breakfast (around $15) with croissants, pho, omelets, fruit, charcuterie and a cheese plate — solid chain-level quality. Up on level 5, the Sky Bar pours cocktails and Da Lat wine over a city view, while the Privilege Lounge lays on free drinks and canapes from 17:00-19:00 for Privilege rooms and Le Club Gold members. There's a small 12m heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi, a three-room spa using Aigner products and Da Lat herbs (a 60-minute body massage runs about $28), a 60 sqm Technogym gym with sauna, free parking for 50 cars, and a concierge that books Cau Dat and Crazy House trips.

Location and getting there

Mercure sits on Hoang Van Thu street in Da Lat's French Quarter. Con Ga Cathedral is an 8-minute walk and Xuan Huong Lake 12 minutes downhill. Da Lat Market is 15 minutes on foot, 5 by Grab, or covered by a free shuttle twice a day. Bao Dai's villa is a 7-minute drive, Crazy House 5 minutes, and Truc Lam Pagoda with Tuyen Lam Lake about 18 minutes out. The Cau Dat tea plantation is a 35-minute drive. Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) lies 30 km away — a taxi is roughly 350,000 VND and 40 minutes.

Things to know before booking

First, there's no lake view: the hotel sits south of Xuan Huong, behind the ridge, so book TTC Ngoc Lan or Dalat Palace if a water view matters. Second, the pool is small and seasonal — 12m and heated, but with December-February nights at 10C it's a midday-only swim; Swiss-Belresort has indoor and outdoor pools if that's a priority. Third, the 15-minute walk to the market is uphill on the way back, less convenient than nearby rivals, though a Grab is about $1 or you can use the free shuttle. Fourth, join Accor Le Club free at booking — the welcome drink, late check-out and roughly $40 off a future stay add up to real value.

Our take

Mercure Dalat Resort is the best fit for families, business travelers and Accor loyalists who want one familiar global standard in the highlands. You get a four-star Accor with European service, 131 newer Indochine-modern rooms, a level-5 Sky Bar, a Privilege Lounge for Le Club Gold, an Aigner spa, a heated pool and Le Club points — from about $69 a night. If your trip is about family, work, remote-working or chasing Accor status, this is the most sensible base in town. If you'd rather have a lake view or genuine heritage atmosphere, TTC Ngoc Lan or Du Parc will serve you better. Overall we score it 8.9/10.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know

✓ Why we recommend it
  • Genuine European chain service — the front desk speaks fluent English, check-in is quick, and Accor's global standards mean no surprises if you've stayed at a Mercure anywhere else.
  • Opened in 2017, so the 131 rooms are newer and more spacious than Da Lat's heritage stock — Standard rooms run 28 sqm with rain showers, Sealy beds and fast Wi-Fi.
  • Every night earns Accor Le Club points (1 EUR = 10 points); sign-up is free and a 50 EUR-equivalent reward kicks in around 2,000 points, plus welcome drink and late check-out.
  • Free parking for 50 cars makes it the easy pick if you're renting a car for the Cau Dat tea plantation or day trips around Tuyen Lam Lake.
  • A clean track record — no negative review in 11 straight months across Trip.com (8.9), Agoda (8.7) and Booking (8.9), with most praise for the new rooms and English-speaking staff.
💡 Good to know before you book
  • No lake view at all. The hotel sits on the south side of Xuan Huong Lake, behind the ridge, so if a window over the water matters book TTC Ngoc Lan or Dalat Palace instead.
  • The outdoor pool is a small 12m heated strip, and Da Lat nights drop to 10C in December-February — realistically it's a midday-only pool. For proper swimming, Swiss-Belresort has both indoor and outdoor pools.
  • Da Lat Market is a 15-minute walk away, and the return trip is uphill. It's less convenient than TTC, Du Parc or Ana Mandara; budget for a 5-minute Grab (around $1) or use the free shuttle, which only runs twice a day.

Insider Tips

  • Join Accor Le Club free when you book — it unlocks a welcome drink, free late check-out and roughly $40 off a future stay within the year.
  • Upgrade to a Privilege Floor room for about $23 extra — it bundles breakfast plus access to the 17:00-19:00 lounge with free drinks and canapes.
  • Take the free parking if you're driving — it's the most car-friendly base in town for a self-drive Cau Dat day trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Mercure compare to TTC Ngoc Lan?
Mercure is the newer four-star: 2017 build, bigger rooms, Accor Le Club points and a small pool, from about $69, but a 15-minute walk from the market. TTC Ngoc Lan is a 20-year-old four-star right on the lake and market (4-minute walk) with no pool, from about $51. Pick Mercure for chain consistency and points; pick TTC for the walkable lakefront location and lower price.
Is Accor Le Club worth joining here?
Yes, and it's free. You earn 10 points per euro spent, so one Mercure Dalat night (~50 EUR) banks about 500 points; 2,000 points converts to roughly 40 EUR off a future stay. Sign-up also gets you a welcome drink and free late check-out. Because Mercure Dalat is one of the cheapest Accor rates anywhere, it's an easy way to start climbing toward Silver and Gold tiers.
Is the 15-minute walk to the market too far?
It's walkable but not as easy as TTC, Du Parc or Ana Mandara. The 1.2 km route crosses a hill, and the way back is uphill. A Grab is about $1 and 5 minutes, or the free hotel shuttle runs into town twice a day at 10:00 and 18:00. If you're driving, parking is free at the hotel and cheap at the market.
