In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The Millennials Shibuya opened back in 2017, yet it's still the most high-tech capsule hotel in Tokyo in 2026, because its 120 iPad-controlled SmartPods haven't really been bettered at this price. Each pod is wide enough to sit and work in comfortably, and the iPad tilts the bed from flat to upright and dials the lighting through several levels. A digital window displays a still image or the weather, the bedding is a notch above the usual capsule standard, and there's fast USB-C charging built in. Some reviewers say you can hear a little noise from neighbouring pods, but most are happy with the level of privacy.
Food and amenities
Breakfast is included — cereal, yogurt, bread and coffee served at the ground-floor lounge — and every guest also gets one free evening beer between 17:00 and 19:00. The coworking lounge stays open 24 hours, with a power outlet and USB at every desk, which makes it genuinely useful for digital nomads or anyone who has to work mid-trip. The shared bathrooms are clean and well designed.
Location and getting there
It sits in Shibuya, near Shinsen Station on the Keio Inokashira Line — three minutes to Shibuya from there, and from Shibuya you can take the JR Yamanote or Tokyu line to Shinjuku in 5 to 10 minutes. It's a good base if you want to be between Shibuya and Shinjuku. The surrounding streets have plenty of restaurants and cafes, and the feel is more residential than tourist-strip.
Things to know before booking
It costs more than a standard capsule, so this isn't the budget pick. The Shibuya base is also farther from Shinjuku than the others on this list, and there's no sauna or onsen here. Noise from adjacent pods is the one recurring gripe, though it's minor.
Our take
The Millennials Shibuya is the pick for digital nomads, tech-minded solo travelers, and anyone who wants the most futuristic capsule experience in Tokyo. If you're choosing between a plain capsule and this one and the gap is under about $14 a night, The Millennials is clearly the better value.
