Mitsui Garden Premier has something rare at this level — a top-floor communal onsen with city views, and after a full day on your feet, soaking in hot water over the skyline is a genuinely good payoff.

In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Rooms here are done in a clean Japanese-modern style and kept spotless to the Mitsui standard the chain is known for. They run about 20–25 sqm — smaller than the Marriott or JR Gate Tower, but still bigger than the typical city hotel room in Japan. It's a snug, well-finished space rather than a sprawling one, which is the trade-off for the price and the location.
Food and amenities
The standout amenity is the free communal onsen (daiyokujo) on the top floor — proper Japanese hot-spring bathing, open to guests, with the lights of Nagoya spread out below at night. The team has soaked here after a full day walking Sakae and come out with the ache genuinely lifted from our legs. A central 4-star with its own communal onsen is a rare thing in this city. There's also an in-house Japanese restaurant serving kaiseki in the morning and evening, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
Location and getting there
The hotel sits in the Meieki district, about a 5-minute walk from the Sakuradori (east) exit of Nagoya Station. That puts the shinkansen, JR and subway lines all within easy reach. You're also right next to Midland Square and the flower-twist Mode Gakuen Spiral Towers, the landmark tower of the district, so dinner and shopping are a short stroll away.
Things to know before booking
The rooms are on the small side at 20–25 sqm, so manage expectations if you've stayed in the roomier towers above the station. The onsen is a shared, public-style bath split into separate men's and women's sections — lovely, but not a private soak, and there's no in-room onsen. And while 5 minutes is a short walk on a normal day, it can feel longer in the rain or while dragging a big suitcase.
Our take
Mitsui Garden Hotel Nagoya Premier is best for couples, families and solo travelers who want the onsen experience right in the city center without heading out to another district. We rate the value highly — a city-view onsen soak at roughly half the price of a 5-star is about the best deal of a Nagoya trip, with reliable Mitsui service to match. Real guests score it 8.9/10.
