In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Na-Rak-O translates literally as cute, and the team delivers on the name. The building is painted in alternating pink, yellow and mint green, with chalkboards, dolls and decorated corners tucked into every nook. The 30-odd rooms each get a different theme — pastel tones, floral patterns, even a Lanna timber look. Anyone who likes taking photos will happily lose more time inside than out. Starter rooms run a compact 18–22 sqm: well laid out, with a soft queen bed, a clean bathroom, a water heater and strong air-con.
Food and amenities
Breakfast is a simple spread at the café downstairs — nothing elaborate, but it does the job. The young Chiang Rai staff smile easily and will set up a White Temple, Boon Rawd Farm and Singha Park tour for you free of charge. This is a small boutique, so don't expect resort facilities like a pool or gym; what you get is character and a good front desk. Design, location and value all score 9.0+ in guest reviews, which matches our read of the place.
Location and getting there
The property sits on a quiet lane near Phahonyothin Road. It's an 8–10 minute walk to the Clock Tower and Night Bazaar, and about 12 minutes to Wat Ming Mueang and Wat Phra Kaew. The Khao Soi Pho Soa shop is right on the corner, so you can step out of your room and start eating. By car it's 20 minutes to the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) and 15 minutes to Mae Fah Luang International Airport — handy for a morning of sightseeing before a flight.
Things to know before booking
Rooms are compact at 18–22 sqm, comfortable for one or two but tight for more. Facilities are basic compared with a larger hotel or resort — there's no pool. And with only around 30 rooms, it fills up; book ahead, especially in high season.
Our take
Na-Rak-O Resort suits couples, friends travelling together, solo photographers and anyone who wants a cute, design-led stay in a good spot at a soft price. It has a distinctly Chiang Rai charm, and at start rates near $23 a night it's an easy one to recommend. If you're into pastel, don't miss it.
