In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Nabi Hostel Hongdae runs a building that opened in 2014, so it looks a little older than CLEO or Sunny Hill — but it is kept up well. The 6-bed female-only dorm goes for around $19 a night: a 14-sqm room with three wooden bunk beds, each with a privacy curtain, a power outlet, a USB port, a reading light and a locker under the bed. The white sheets are clean and the pillows are decently firm, and the two shared bathrooms have strong hot showers with free Mediheal soap and shampoo. There is also a 14-sqm private double at about $50, with a double bed, a desk, an en-suite bathroom and a TV — a fair fit for couples.
Food and amenities
The ground-floor restaurant runs 07:00-22:00. The continental breakfast is about $7 — toast, fried or boiled eggs, mixed fruit, coffee and tea — and later it shifts to Korean food: bibimbap, kimchi stew and a bulgogi set. The common area sits next to it, but it is small and fits only about 8 people, with sofas, chairs, a TV, free 100 Mbps Wi-Fi and two computers for flight check-in. There is no communal kitchen — Sunny Hill is the better pick if you want to cook.
Location and getting there
The pitch here is the 2-minute walk (about 200m) from Hongik University Station Exit 3, the closest of any hostel in this group. The AREX runs direct from Incheon Airport (ICN) to that station, so you step off the train and you are nearly at the door — no long bag-drag. Next to the restaurant, the tour desk books a full-day DMZ trip for about $68, covering the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, Dora Observatory and Imjingak Park, at 10-15% less than online rates, plus trips to Nami Island and Petite France.
Things to know before booking
The building shows its age next to newer neighbors, and the common area is genuinely small — it caps out around 8 people, so this is not where you come for a big nightly social scene. There is also no communal kitchen, only the restaurant downstairs, so self-caterers should look elsewhere. The hostel sits on a street with some traffic noise, so ask for a higher floor.
Our take
Nabi is the move when fast metro access beats a party vibe. The 2-minute walk from Exit 3, the in-house restaurant and a tour desk that undercuts online DMZ prices make it an easy base for getting out of the city, and dorms from about $19 keep it cheap. Score 8.3/10 across more than 1,200 reviews.
