Location and getting there

You can reach almost every old-town highlight on foot from here. Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı, the Basilica Cistern, the Hippodrome and the Grand Bazaar are all a few minutes' walk away, so you barely need the tram at all. If you do want it, the Sultanahmet tram stop is about 5 minutes away, handy for hopping elsewhere in the city or heading down to the ferry pier for a Bosphorus cruise. Everything that should be close is close.

Three honest caveats. First, this is a 3-star, so there is no pool and no spa, and the facilities don't match a 4- or 5-star. Second, the non-sea-view rooms feel completely different from the sea-view category, so pick your room type carefully if the view is what you're here for. Third, the room count is small, so it sells out fast in high season, and you should reserve well in advance to land the room you want.

This is for couples and travelers who want a room with a good view and a central old-town base for less than the higher-end hotels charge. Recital delivers more than you'd expect. You trade a full set of facilities for Marmara sea views, a lovely terrace bar and a location within walking distance of everything, and that's a trade plenty of guests are happy to make twice. Booking a sea-view room is the one rule worth treating as non-negotiable.
