In-Depth Review
The Rizqun International Hotel sits in Gadong, the main commercial district of Bandar Seri Begawan, attached to The Mall Gadong — the biggest shopping centre in Brunei. It scores 8.5/10, with guests praising clean, roomy rooms, polite and helpful staff, good food and a big pool. For the price, it's about the best value you'll find here.
Rooms and decor
The 4-star rooms run wider than the same tier elsewhere in Southeast Asia, done in modern light tones with wood furniture. Bathrooms have both a bathtub and shower, and you get a minibar, a coffee maker and fast, stable Wi-Fi. One review summed it up well — the rooms come out bigger than expected and genuinely clean.
Food and amenities
There's a large outdoor pool open daily, a full fitness centre and several meeting rooms. The Halal restaurant serves Malay, Chinese and international dishes, and reviews call the food consistently good. Being wired into The Mall Gadong helps too — more restaurants and a supermarket are right at hand without stepping outside.
Location and getting there
Gadong puts you roughly 5–8 km from the historic district, so you'll need a car. Taxis are scarce and pricey in Brunei, so it's best to have the hotel call one ahead. Reckon on 10–15 minutes to reach Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and Kampong Ayer from here.
Things to know before booking
The big caveat is distance from the sights — at 5–8 km out, every trip to the old town is a taxi ride, and those aren't easy to come by. In-hotel food is Halal only per Brunei's rules, so no alcohol or pork on the menu. And while the building connects to the mall, the surrounding Gadong area is commercial rather than scenic.
Our take
The Rizqun is best for business travelers who want a Gadong base, or anyone after a solid 4-star with a pool at a fair price. You trade a central, walkable location for value and a mall on your doorstep — at around $115 a night and matching the Radisson's 8.5 score, that's a trade plenty of people will happily take.
