The amenities are good quality, the bedding is soft, and the bathroom is roomy with the tub and shower separated. Central Park Station (Subway Line 1) is an 8-minute walk, and from there the metro into central Seoul (Seoul Station) takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. With two or three people traveling together, a Kakao Taxi is faster (around $25, 45 to 60 minutes). It's about a 25-minute drive from Incheon Airport. The upshot: this location is best for couples and families who mainly want to explore Songdo IBD, or business travelers working in the district — anyone who needs to be near the airport for transit may have better options.

Things to know before booking

Straight talk to help you decide. First, the distance from Incheon Airport, at about a 25-minute drive, isn't ideal for a one-night transit stay where you want to be right by the airport — if that's the goal, Paradise City or Grand Hyatt are much closer. This place suits people set on staying in Songdo IBD. Second, the room rates run high to the 5-star chain standard, from around $154 a night, and you'll still want to budget for the breakfast buffet, the spa and the in-room dining, which are priced up. On a tighter budget in Songdo, consider the Holiday Inn Songdo (ranked #6) nearby, which costs a lot less. Third, Songdo IBD is quiet and has no street food in the traditional Korean sense — the surrounding streets are mostly offices and tall towers, and few local restaurants stay open late. Anyone expecting the buzz of pojangmacha (street-food tents), markets or back-alley BBQ may find it too sleepy, and will need to head 30 minutes to Incheon Chinatown or into Seoul for that.

After reading through plenty of real guest reviews, the Sheraton Grand Incheon Hotel is the best-located 5-star chain hotel in Songdo IBD — directly across from Songdo Central Park. It sells classic Art Deco modern style, with roomy rooms, the top-tier Feast breakfast buffet, a big spa and pool, and the Marriott-level service you can count on. If your trip in your head looks like waking up to Central Park outside your window, doing business in Korea's most futuristic district, a fancy breakfast buffet, an afternoon at the spa and an evening stroll through the city park, this fits beautifully. It's best for couples, families, business travelers and Marriott Bonvoy members who want international-standard quality with the prettiest view going. But if you're set on a one-night transit stay near the airport, or you want to be in Seoul every day, this location may not be the best answer. Overall we give it 9.2/10 for a 5-star chain hotel that does its job well on every front.
