Bathrooms are marble with a separate tub and shower and premium Hermès or Lanvin amenities. Suites add a separate sitting area and a personal butler. The small French touches hold up too: neatly folded hand towels, a handwritten note from housekeeping, a welcome sweet on the desk.

Food and amenities

If one thing defines this hotel, it's the breakfast buffet, which international reviews routinely call one of the best in Morocco — no exaggeration. It goes all in: fresh-baked French croissants and pastries behind glass, several breads, made-to-order pancakes and omelets, European cheeses and hams, neatly arranged tropical fruit, fresh juices, and a Moroccan corner with msemen, harcha and real honey, finished with hot mint tea poured from a brass pot the traditional way. One sitting can happily run an hour. A floor down is So Spa, another Sofitel calling card, blending French spa treatments with a Moroccan hammam — private treatment rooms including a couples' suite, an indoor heated pool sized right for year-round laps, a sauna, a steam room, and 24-hour fitness. For dinner there's a main restaurant serving French-Mediterranean dishes, a classic cocktail bar off the lobby, and an upper-floor Sky Bar with the best nighttime city view in the building — good for a glass of wine before or after dinner.

Location and getting there

The hotel sits in Centre Ville (Sidi Belyout), the core of Casablanca's business district, ringed by office towers, banks and conference space — very handy for meetings, and close to the sights without a long haul. Hassan II Mosque, the second-largest in Africa and the city's standout, is about a 5-minute drive (20–25 minutes on foot, but take a car). Casa-Port station, where you catch trains to Rabat, Marrakech and Fes, is a 10-minute walk, while Casa-Voyageurs, the city's main station, is a 10–15 minute taxi. From Mohammed V Airport (CMN) it's roughly 30–35 minutes by car, or you can take the train from the airport to Casa-Port (about 40 minutes) and walk in. The area isn't the picture-postcard old town, but it's safe, taxis are constant, and getting anywhere is easy — ideal for a short 1–2 night Casablanca stop before Marrakech or Fes.

Things to know before booking

Straight talk to help you decide. The first thing reviews agree on is the area right outside: it's the city's main business zone, but some streets still look dated and short of what you'd expect around a five-star. Daytime is fine; at night it's not advised for solo women or anyone unsure of the streets — use the hotel car or a taxi. Second is the building design, which reads as a tall corporate tower more than a place with deep Moroccan character. If you want a true riad feel — a central water court, multicolored zellige tiles — this may feel too international. Third are the in-hotel prices: the bar, minibar and main restaurant all run noticeably above the Casablanca market, with a glass of wine or cocktail around 150–200 dirham and dinner in the main restaurant from roughly 600 dirham a head. On a budget, eat lunch and dinner outside (there are good, well-priced spots in the area). Some reviews also flag Wi-Fi that's slow or drops on certain upper floors, so for online meetings the lobby or business center has the stronger signal. Finally, check-in can get busy and slow at peak times — leave a little buffer.

For business it's about as convenient as it gets in the CBD. But if the heart of your trip is soaking up true Moroccan atmosphere in a riad with a courtyard, antique tilework and deep Eastern decor, this may feel too international, and you might prefer the old town or Marrakech.
