In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
The room we looked at sat in the Imperial Wing, the freshly renovated part of the tower, and ran around 35 sqm in cream-and-gold tones. There's a king bed with soft sheets, a marble bathroom with a separate tub, and a window seat that looks onto the Diwang building, a Luohu landmark. Guests called out the Nespresso capsule coffee and the two free water bottles a day, and the TV carries HBO Asia if you want something on before bed. It's a genuine step up from the standard rooms, and the price for it lands below what the Crowne Plaza charges.
Food and amenities
This is a full-service 5-star tower, so there's a pool, a gym, and an in-house restaurant, plus free Wi-Fi in the rooms. The headline draw, though, is the Imperial Wing itself — for the money it feels more generous than you'd expect, and it's the main reason we'd point couples and business travelers here over the pricier options higher up.
Location and getting there
The address is about as central as Luohu gets. Reviewers clock the walk from the lobby to the Luohu Port border crossing at roughly 8 minutes, with Shenzhen railway station sitting just across the street — ideal for a Shenzhen-and-Hong-Kong combo. Another 10 minutes on foot reaches Luohu Commercial City, a 5-floor mall where shoppers come for bags and watches. MRT Luohu, one of the city's main stations, sits right by the border, and you can pick up both the green line and the yellow line from there. The Dongmen pedestrian street is an easy walk as well.
Things to know before booking
Rooms start near $80 a night, which is fair for a 5-star property but more than the budget picks further down this list. Luohu is busy and crowded, so the streets right outside stay loud for much of the day. And rooms fill up fast in high season, so lock in your dates early if they're fixed.
Our take
Sunshine Hotel of Shenzhen (Luohu) is at its best for couples and business travelers who want a polished 5-star base in the middle of Luohu and have Hong Kong on the itinerary. The renovated Imperial Wing punches above its price, the border crossing is a short walk, and a 9.3 guest rating backs up the call. That combination is exactly why it lands at #2.
