In-Depth Review
Rooms and decor
Vana Belle opened in 2014 on Chaweng Noi bay — the small cove at the southern tip of Chaweng beach, separated from the main stretch by a rocky hill, which keeps it much quieter while still only a 10-minute drive from main Chaweng. The resort is made up of 79 pool suites, every one with its own private pool — a feature that is hard to match at this rate. Rooms split into the 65 sqm Deluxe Pool Suite starting at $530, the bay-facing Sea View Pool Suite, and the garden-set Tropical Pool Suite. Designed by Habita Architects, the look is contemporary Thai crossed with colonial — Thai silk, teak, marble, and 4-metre ceilings. Bathrooms open onto the garden with a rain shower and a two-person jacuzzi. Real reviews on Trip.com, where the 9.4/10 is the highest in the luxury group, keep landing on the same point: the pool suites look better than the price, and staff lay on surprises for special occasions.
Food and amenities
Vana Belle runs two main dining spots. Kiree is the seaside flagship, serving Thai and international food plus a wide breakfast buffet, turning to à la carte in the evening. Panali Pool Bar sits by the main pool with cocktails, tapas, and snacks. There are fewer outlets than at other luxury resorts because the focus is on keeping things simple, but the food is good — reviewers single out the breakfast buffet as varied, running from fried eggs and pad thai to congee, Western plates, and Thai sweets. Panacea Spa uses Sodashi products and Thai herbal treatments, with a hammam and a vichy shower, and the spa rooms are set out as garden-view villas. The resort's beach is a private little bay with very calm, clear water that suits children, and the main pool is ringed with loungers. A butler looks after every room, and the resort runs a free shuttle into Chaweng Walking Street in the evening. Overall score 9.3/10.
Location and getting there
Vana Belle sits on Chaweng Noi bay at the far southern end of Chaweng, in a pocket where a rocky hill walls it off from main Chaweng, making it considerably calmer with no roaming vendors or shops. Even so, it is just a 10-minute drive to Chaweng Walking Street and its restaurants, bars, and markets — a best of both worlds spot that delivers quiet and buzz in one. Samui Airport is 15 km away, a 20-minute drive, and the resort lays on a free private transfer for Marriott Elite members. Lamai is 15 minutes by car, Bophut Fisherman Village 20 minutes, and the Big Buddha 25 minutes.
Things to know before booking
Straight talk to help you decide. First, the resort is built on a hillside that slopes gently down to the bay — lower pool suites sit close to the sand, upper ones get the more open bay view, and getting from your room to the beach means a buggy in some cases or 3 to 5 minutes on the stairs. It is easier than Six Senses, but it is not flat. Second, there are only two restaurants on site — Kiree and the Panali Pool Bar — so anyone staying several nights may tire of the menu; the answer is the shuttle into Chaweng Walking Street, where the choice is wider. Third, the standard room rate undercuts rivals, but food and spa prices still sit at full Luxury Collection levels — a meal at Kiree is $43 to $100 a head and a 90-minute spa treatment $157 to $243, so a half-board or all-inclusive package works out better.
Our take
Vana Belle, a Luxury Collection Resort is the most well-rounded pick for luxury value on Koh Samui — pool suites that look better than the price, a Chaweng Noi setting that is the best of both worlds, and the group's highest Trip score of 9.4. If the trip in your head is a honeymoon or a special celebration in a pool suite you can actually afford, with main Chaweng's markets and nightlife reachable in the same evening, this is the most fitting answer. Marriott Bonvoy members get extra value on top. Overall we give it 9.3/10, best suited to couples and honeymooners who want a luxury pool villa at a more reachable price than the top tier.

The Honest Verdict — pros & what to know
- The entry rate for a pool suite comes in below the other 5-star resorts on Samui, so you get a private pool for what a regular sea-view room costs elsewhere.
- The location is genuinely the best of both worlds — Chaweng Noi is calm and removed, yet main Chaweng with its restaurants and Walking Street is only a 10-minute drive away.
- The resort fronts a small private cove with clear, calm water that is shallow enough for kids to swim safely, rather than the open, choppier stretch of main Chaweng.
- Every one of the 79 suites has its own private pool, measuring 3 by 4 metres, which is genuinely rare to find at this price point on the island.
- Staff are attentive and known for arranging surprises for special occasions, and a butler looks after every room.
- The resort clings to a hillside that slopes down to the bay. Lower suites sit near the beach while upper ones get the open bay view, but getting from your room to the sand means a buggy in some cases or 3 to 5 minutes on the stairs — easier than Six Senses, but not flat.
- There are only two food outlets on site — the main Kiree restaurant and the Panali Pool Bar — so over several nights the menu can start to feel repetitive. The fix is the free shuttle into Chaweng Walking Street, where the choice is much wider.
- The room rate undercuts rivals, but food and spa prices still sit at full Luxury Collection levels — a meal at Kiree runs $43 to $100 a head and a 90-minute spa treatment $157 to $243. A half-board or all-inclusive package works out better.
